Web services
I can provide virtually any service regarding web development and hosting. Whether you just need to secure a domain name for an upcoming website or you need a complete and customized e-commerce solution, I can help.
Thanks to powerful and reliable service providers — including a CDN (Content Delivery Network) and cloud computing! — your website will grow with your business. And if you only need a personal website, or an easy-to-use yet highly customizable blog, that's perfectly fine too.
Each website is developed by following the most current standards, and is tested against several different browsers to ensure that they appear well even on older computers. Text and images are treated so that search engines can make the most out of them, in order to boost the site's position in search results.
The basics
- Website and e-mail hosting. If you already have a website ready, or are planning to get one, I can secure your domain name (ie. yourcompany.com) and put up a customized "under construction" page. This will help it go up in search results, and you can immediately use e-mail addresses and aliases on that domain.
Even if your website isn't ready yet, you can already use addresses such as name@yourcompany.com... so why wait? - Static website design. A static website is a series of HTML pages, which therefore require manual edits to update any content. The pages are manually written in order to optimize them, therefore yielding a better rank in search results. It has a lower initial costs because subsequent updates are to be paid for; update costs are proportional to their complexity and to the time needed to make them. The initial cost depends on the complexity of the graphic elements and of the pages, as well as on their number.
It is best suited for websites that will not be updated very often, such as a small business that wants to advertise its services while not needing to provide its visitors with real-time updates. - Dynamic website design. A dynamic website is similar to a static website, but some parts are generated "on the fly" when visitors access the pages, usually by fetching data from a database. It has a higher initial cost because, in addition to the website, the database itself needs to be designed and built, together with a password-protected web interface through which the administrator will modify the site's contents. Updates are carried out directly by the administrators, without any other parties' involvement, and are therefore instantaneous. The initial cost depends on the complexity and number of pages that will be editable by the administrators.
It is best suited for websites that will be updated often, such as a restaurant that allows visitors to know what the daily menu is, or a soccer team wishing to keep a direct contact with its supporters. - Blog hosting. A blog is a special case of a dynamic website that the owner can edit and update in a journal-like fashion. Being built on a common software platform, specifically Wordpress, it is cheaper to develop and deploy than a static website. Unlike free blog hosting sites, however, you get complete access to your blog: you can download, install and even edit themes, designs and plug-ins; you even get FTP access. The blog is completely yours. And if you want a customized theme for it, I can do that. Moreover, you will not have to worry about having to update the Wordpress core: I'll do that for you.
A blog is the perfect way to easily show off your art, or to talk about your work and hobbies. Log in, upload pictures, videos or music, write your text. And you don't even have to leave the browser window to run a spell check: it's right there. - E-commerce platform development. An e-commerce platform is a dynamic website on steroids. It has an even higher initial cost because it is effectively entirely dynamic and includes tools such as a product catalog, a user database, a shopping cart and a system to accept and process orders and take payments through world-wide bank systems. The initial cost varies greatly and depends on the specific needs of the company, because the website is entirely customized and developed accordingly.
Each design package comes with hosting included, and each hosting package includes a domain name, several e-mail addresses and aliases (IMAP4 and POP3), web statistics, MySQL database access, FTP access, PHP5, Ruby on Rails and more. It's all there, by default.
