Portfolio

Cait's PaintsFull design and development, static website
A portfolio for artist Caitlin St. Angelo, featuring a different layout for the homepage and the rest of the pages.
The homepage sports a JavaScript-only changing preview of her art, and the portfolio page is split in multiple sub-sections, each with a JavaScript slideshow.
The "Artwork by Caitlin St. Angelo" text in the header was handwritten by the artist.
Please note that the owner has decided to have the website handled by another provider in June 2010, therefore the current website is not what I designed.

Jeans PremamanPre-existing website, shopping cart integration
This Italian web shop, specialized in maternity store clothing, needed to automate the order process. I have built a database back-end and an administration section to keep track of the orders and the products' prices. While the product pages are still static, as per the client's request, customers can order items through a dynamic shopping cart rather than filling a long and confusing form.
The website is also now able to directly accept payments via PayPal and directly charge credit cards, thanks to the interaction with the X-Pay system by CartaSi. The BankPassWeb system was originally implemented, but it has been superseded by X-Pay.
I also developed a JavaScript calculator to easily help customers find their clothes' size by simply typing their chest and waist sizes.
All of this was integrated with the pre-existing website with no disruption of the page flow, in order to keep the same ranking on search engines' results.

Tutte Le SereServer-side back-end, based on a database
This project was started in 2005 by a local advertising company. The name, "Every night" in English, summarized its goal: providing a unique portal with information about night clubs and pubs, an up-to-date list of current events, a page for bands to advertise themselves, and some social networking features (a message board, aptly named "mini-wall", allowed users to post public messages and see other users' profiles; weekly polls let users have their say about different topics.) There was even a basic banner rotation system for paying companies to advertise their products or services.
My job was to lay the back-end foundation upon which the website was built. I developed a database whose structure was customized and optimized for the website's needs, and built the "back-office" pages that allowed the administrators to log in using their private password and update almost any content on the site itself. Indeed, the only section that were kept static were the "contact us" and "about us" pages.
The graphic designer and I also added a touch of AJAX technology to let the mini-wall show a user's profile without reloading the whole page; at the time, it was something new and mostly unheard of.
Unfortunately, the project was cancelled in 2006, and the domain name has been taken over by someone else.
